Optorylpulpus

I have updated my storyline for chapter 0 of my comic concept. I would like to ask all to check it out if they can. I changed the writing style completely from a script style to a more descriptive style to make it more readable like an actual chapter. In doing so I hope to effectively capture the tone and atmosphere of the story. I still need to proofread this so mistakes are bound (those not identified by word that is) so please feel free to point them out so I can make make changes to it, and please review my concept as well as my writing and even any technical stuff.

The genre of interest is horror, psychological, martial arts, thus I aim to set up a great engaging story exploring the world I conceptualized. My main character, will hopefully prove to be very dynamic and interesting as the story follows her journey. I will also have new characters as well as older ones that are developed better for the story. I plan to upload my whole "The Grudge" storyline arc for reviews and discussion XD (If it gets good).

So please once again just read through it and let me know what you think.

I have made it a point to refrain on the actual comic now  and rather work on my art as well as practice anatomy, perspective, agriculture and architecture so that I improve my comic style in all those areas as well as in the storytelling. Its a lot so I'll be keeping myself busy, I also have some artworks  I hope to submit real soon.

So, some of you may be wondering why the sudden silence. Well, a lot has been happening over the past two weeks, had some visitors, and lots of things to keep me from my sketchbook. Also had a lot of distractions which will hopefully turn into inspiration for my new pages. Been getting into thai martial arts movies, just been watching Chocolate, Raging Phoenix and Ong Bak. Great films, great choreography, still cannot believe all the stunts in some of these movies were done by the actors for real, absolutely no wires nor cg in most cases. It's a fresh breather from Hollywood. I would recommend these films to anyone who is interested in martial arts, especially thai boxing. Have done basic drafts for my second and currently am working on my third page. I want to do the next 5 pages before I can upload them, hopefully by then I'll have spiced things up (real excited). SO I'm going to play it safe and upload them all at once after I have made sure everything is perfect.

So, I have my very first page up an running, and while I am working on the cover I thought I would churn my ideas and plans with my comic. So namely this post is to discuss my storyline, I'm going to try and be a bit cautious to not reveal too much as the comic itself will unveil most of the things in its own time. SO I figured a safe way to talk about my comic without giving away too much would be to merely discuss a bit about the main characters. In this particular case, the character in mind is Yamaguchi Kaede/Saouri.
So to start off, Yamaguchi Kaede has two names, one which is a Researched Japanese name; Kaede meaning "Maple" and Yamaguchi meaning "mountain entrance". Although I almost spontaneously chose the name, i am going to give it a shot in justifying why I gave her this particular name. I guess the main reason is that it's quite a commonly used name in anime and secondly, a maple tree from images seen on the web consists of radiant leaf colors from bright green to bright orange, this translates to my character's beauty as well as the vast changes she has gone through even from the beginning of this storyline and also the further changes she will go through as the comic develops (I hope). I hope to capture such changes with appropriate use of flashbacks as well as present events.

Now Saouri is a name I made up myself, I will be surprised if there exists a name like that but if there does exist such a name then I apologize for my ignorance. This was the original name of my character which was to be replaced by Yamaguchi Kaede however I have now decided to keep it for a particular reason. Im my comic I have a made up language that will be referred to as "Mandrenean", it is an ancient language which inspires most of "Mandrea" mythologies that influence the cultures as well as spiritual views of the people in this fictional world. It also happens to be a powerful language for spiritual rites and will often be referred to in some of the symbology in the comic. As for Saouri, the name will be based off a mythical goddess in that world. I am still uncertain as to how or what would cause Kaede to be referred to as Saouri besides, the idea of it originating from her ancient heritage ie.(her mother's side) for her father was a mortal and her mother an ancient/"immortal" though I'm not comfortable using that word as it becomes more of a hyperbole.

Anyways, as for her general characteristics, she is nineteen years old at the starting point of the comic. She has an average to more athletic body type in due to her obvious nature (re: ch1). Generally speaking nothing more should really be outstanding about her body, her curves are moderate, her chest size is on the small side (no fan-servicey proportions thank you very much). I don't think I have anything more to say at this point in time except my gratitude for those who have taken time to read my thought stream and who have shown some interest in my comic. I will keep posted and will update my comic as regularly as I can so if you like the story so far, please do be patient for there are times when I will take longer with my progress as a student as well as an amateur artist giving commercial art a try as a possible form of income.

I am hoping to have the cover for the comic ready by next week as well as page 2 of chapter 1.

So begins a new week, and once it's over we'll that is it for June 2012. Half the year is gone and now we are headed towards 2013. 2012 still holds so much mystery, uncertainty and surprises. I wonder what we'll be getting into. It is said that the Mayan calendar ends in 2012, and here we are who would have thought? Makes me wonder what is coming our way, it feels like walking in an endless corridor. Wherever I am walking it is well lit for a few feet and a wall of darkness is always present ahead of me. As I walk forward the darkness retreats, unveiling things that were previously concealed by the darkness. Makes one wonder where we are going, where does the corridor lead to? When will we reach the end of it?
No-one knows for sure, but we can only assume and guess, hope and anticipate what is to come. Life is unpredictable, anything can happen at any moment, things can swiftly change in an unexpected way, hence the endless twists and turns of the corridor. At the end of the day, we can only make the best of what we can see, of what we have, of our very passing moments. So with that, Let's make the most of this week!!
